How it all began and meet Keynon….
Keynon Lake is the visionary founder of KL Training Solutions and My Daddy Taught Me That (MDTMT), a nonprofit organization dedicated to mentoring young men in Asheville, North Carolina. Born and raised in Asheville, Keynon has deep roots in the community and a passion for uplifting and empowering youth. During his nearly two decade career as a Social Worker in Child Protective Services, Keynon came face-to-face with the challenges many children attempt to face alone, particularly those from low-income and single-parent households. He founded KLTS & MDTMT in 2012 to provide guidance, support, and positive role models.
My Daddy Taught Me That
Founded in 2012, My Daddy Taught Me That is the flagship program of KLTS.
MDTMT is Asheville’s premier youth development program supporting young men through advocacy, education, and mentoring. Awarded 2023 Program of the Year by The North Carolina Gang Investigation Association, MDTMT and MDTMT Jr. work with young men in 1st - 12th grades and has unique opportunities for youth to work as Ambassadors of the programs once they graduate high school.

P.E.A.C.E. Team Violence Prevention
The P.E.A.C.E. Team (Providing Education & Advocacy through Community Engagement) is comprised of Community Health Workers specializing in violence prevention. The foundation for this partnership with Buncombe County began during the unrest of the pandemic in 2020. In 2022, highly trained members of three, longtime trusted Asheville nonprofit agencies - YTL Training Program , The SPARC Foundation and KL Training Solutions - unified as The P.E.A.C.E. Team.
